Staying Connected
One of the most valuable aspects of The Scholar Ship is that it serves as a backdrop for the creation of so many new friendships spanning the very far corners of the earth. Fortunately, maintaining close contact with your TSS community of friends will not be a challenge in today’s interconnected world. (Imagine trying this even just a decade ago!)
The Bridge has been developed to keep you connected. Here’s how:
The Cove is a chat room dedicated exclusively for the community of friends from your voyage. It’s open 24/7, so consider it the place to go anytime to catch up with fellow TSS alumni.
interculture is an online community on which you can surely chat with the friends you’ve made aboard The Scholar Ship, but different than The Cove in that you can interact with the entire TSS community, from prospective students and staff to alumni from other voyages!
Speaking From The Bridge is where you will find an archive of quarterly newsletters as well as other updates and alerts. If you have a story you would like to share through the newsletter, send it to your alumni coordinator.
TSS in the News will keep you up to speed with current TSS happenings. You can also set up an alert from Google, Yahoo, and the like that can alert you when a news or blog posting is made. So that you don’t fill your inbox with irrelevant alerts, use “The Scholar Ship” (with quotation marks) when setting up the alert.
HotShots is a great tool you can use to create your own photo album on The Bridge. It enables the exchange of photos between you and your community of friends. By creating a photo album, you will also be contributing to The Scholar Ship’s archives.
The TSS Video Library hosts collections of video works from each voyage. Checking in from time to time to take a peek is probably good for the soul.
The Bridge Directory is the official alumni directory of The Scholar Ship. Considering The Scholar Ship is the glue that bonds everyone who shares in common this extraordinary experience, The Bridge Directory will become an increasingly important networking tool for you. You can and should update your profile as often as necessary.
TSSmail was useful aboard the ship and it will be even more useful now that you’re off the ship. At the end of the voyage, your onboard email account was migrated to our shoreside mailserver so that messages sent to your TSS email address will be automatically forwarded to the email account you originally used to enroll in the program. You can and should update your forwarding address as often as necessary to ensure your email doesn’t get lost. We do not store messages on the mailserver.
