Visas
The number of tourist visas required to study aboard The Scholar Ship will vary according to a student’s country of citizenship. Considering that each student will be recognized by issuing authorities as part of a large educational group on a short-term visit, obtaining visas is unlikely to be an obstacle to a student’s enrollment in The Scholar Ship program.
We communicate regularly with officials from each host-country to understand and, when possible, facilitate the tourist visa procurement process for our students. We have negotiated streamlined procedures for obtaining visas upon arrival to port in some countries. In others, visas are processed centrally on behalf of all program participants, thus reducing the need for students to obtain visas on their own. Many countries, however, expect their standard visa procedures to be followed without exception. In that circumstance and all others, our Visa Support Group is available to provide necessary documentation and assistance whenever needed.
In addition to the tourist visas required for time aboard The Scholar Ship, students wishing to complete postgraduate degree programs after disembarkation may have to obtain a student visa for study at the host university. Student visa applications take more time to process, so please consider this in your planning process. Contact the International Studies Office of the institution you would like to attend for more information.
More specific visa procedures are published for enrolled students on My Compass . For other questions regarding visas, students may refer to Visa FAQ’s or contact our Visa Support Group.
